SOME BASIC INFO ABOUT HOW TO GET FROM PORTO TO PENICHE

Let’s start with a brief geographical introduction. Porto as previously anticipated, is located in the north of Portugal, on the Atlantic coast about 120 km away from the border with Spain. The nearest town to visit is Braga which is positioned further north and is only about 45 minutes drive away. Probably the best solution is the rental car. This is the option that we always recommend, especially for a kind of holiday based on surf & yoga. Choosing this option in about 2 hours and 30 minutes you can reach your destination. There is a high probability that you will stop several times along the way admiring the majestic waves of the north.

But if all this is not possible, do not worry because there are other great solutions available.

 

How to get from Porto a Peniche by Bus

If the solution you choose is the bus, the links we found online are through the Portuguese carrier Rede Expressos. The connection from Porto to Peniche, is offered several times a day in 2 different ways:

  • direct journey
  • not direct journey (bus change)

 

The direct journey takes 4 hours and 40 minutes covering a total distance of 285 km. Our research is available once a day starting at 4.30pm and arriving at 9.10pm. The reference code of the bus trip is: 01503. The bus route is the following one:

The not direct journey instead is definitely longer. In fact, after the departure from Porto, it will be necessary to change buses in Coimbra to head to your destination. The total travel time will vary depending on the chosen solution, but generally it is between 4 hours and 20 minutes and 6 hours. Therefore at the time of selection it is necessary to pay due attention.

How to get from Porto to Peniche by train

Finally, the last option we want to recommend you is the train. Last but not least, because it turned out to be an excellent option for money’s value.

From the information we found on the Portuguese railways website, there are daily connections between Porto and Peniche train station which remains outside the city about 20 minutes away. The train station’s name is Dagorda – Peniche, do not forget it.

Surely the train option offers a quieter and more relaxed journey than the bus. But because of the train station location, once arrived at your destination, you will need to take a taxi or a bus to Peniche city center. This is the only negative factor to evaluate.
