Programma Campionato Mondiale Surf 2020

Friends of Boa Onda Guesthouse Peniche and surfing enthusiasts today we wish to provide you with the 2020 surf world championship program created and officially made public last week. The next edition of the world championship will be a little more special as the year 2020 marks the debut of surfing as the official Olympic discipline. For this reason, Japan, home of the next Olympic Games, will host the surfing elite from 24 July to 9 August.

2020 Word Surf Tour: What does it change ?

Consequently the management of the Word Surf League had to adapt the calendar of the world tour to the program of Tokyo 2020 in order to correctly fit the commitments of all the athletes involved in the 2 events. Male surfers will compete in 11 stages; while women will travel to 10 different locations.

Despite the change of plans, changes to the WSL tour will be quite limited. The only new addition is the Quiksilver Pro G-Land, in Grajagan, Indonesia, an event that replaces the Corona Protected Bali.

The professional surfing circuit will also make its debut in a new qualifying series format (QS) with the Challenger series (10,000 point events) and the QS 5,000, 3,000, 1,500 and 1,000 races. The Dream Tour 2020 starts on March 26, in the Australian Gold Coast.
