Let us now find out more about the 2 modes of transport we would like to suggest for you to reach Fatima from Lisbon by car and by bus.
How to get from Lisbon to Fatima by car
The first travel option we would like to propose is the car, which as always remains our favourite for convenience, time, cost and freedom in itinerary choice. The car has many advantages over the bus especially if you are travelling with several pieces of luggage in tow, have valuable surfboards for lessons at our surf school in Peniche, want to travel to Fatima on a larger tour that may include the city of Coimbra and Obidos for example.
The best way to go from Lisbon to Fatima by car is via the A1 motorway, which you will have to drive for about 1 hour and 5 minutes. The correct exit to Fatima is number 8 and from there you will reach the city centre in about 5 minutes. The sanctuary of Fatima is located on Avenida de Dom Josè Alves Correia da Silva and is easily visible. Once there, all you have to do is find a parking space and drive to the pilgrimage site.
How to go from Lisbon to Fatima by bus
Should bus be your solution of choice, the connections we found after specific web searches are through the Portuguese carrier Rede Expressos and the well-known company Flixbus. The route from Lisbon to Fatima by bus takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes.
We noticed that the price to go from Lisbon to Fatima by bus via the Rede Expressos network can vary between 10 and 15 euros depending on the bus schedule and the booking period. This travel network includes 2 different companies which are:
- Citi Express
- Rede Expressos
- Renex
Through Flixbus, on the other hand, prices are lower and are around 7-9 euros with a journey time of 1 hour and 20 minutes. In this case, it is highly recommended to book in advance.
